Community Volunteer-Christmas Bureau

The Christmas Bureau is looking for community-minded volunteers to join our year-round volunteer team!

Volunteering with the Christmas Bureau isn't limited to the holiday season. Throughout the year, our volunteers help us show up in the community, support fundraising efforts, connect with Edmontonians, and build excitement for the holiday season.

Whether you can volunteer once a year or want to join us regularly, there's a place for you on our team.

Our volunteer opportunities change throughout the year, but may include:

Community & Fundraising Events
Help us connect with the community at festivals, markets, sporting events and other events that support Christmas Bureau fundraising efforts. This can include working with other community organizations or event organizers on behalf of the Christmas Bureau to provide them with volunteer support. 

Holiday Events & Activations
Help bring holiday spirit to life at various Christmas Bureau events in the Winter! Gingerbread House making competition anyone?

Hamper Packing & Delivery
Join us during the holiday season to help pack and deliver hampers to local families and individuals. 

Community Ambassadors
Represent the Christmas Bureau’s values, share the Christmas Bureau's story, answer questions and help create positive experiences at all events. 
And more!

Who are we looking for?
You don't need to have previous volunteer experience. We're looking for people who are:
•	Reliable, flexible and willing to lend a hand
•	Positive, friendly and non-judgemental 
•	Able to act in goodwill on behalf of the Christmas Bureau, representing the mission, values and principles of the Bureau year round
•	Comfortable interacting with members of the public
•	Able to volunteer with us at least once per year

Whether you're looking to get more involved in your community, meet new people, or simply give your time to a meaningful cause, we'd love to have you join us.

As a Christmas Bureau volunteer, you'll:
•	Have diverse opportunities to sign up for all year long
•	Meet other community-minded volunteers
•	Gain experience supporting community and fundraising events
•	Be part of a team working to support local individuals and families and help bring a little more warmth, joy and connection to the holiday season

Accessibility: 
There will be a range of events available for different ages/interests/abilities. Events may be 18+, include lifting of heavy items, standing for long periods of time, working in various weather conditions outside, require manual dexterity, involve busy crowds with lots of noise. 
However, we will also events that are indoors, shorter durations, have available seating and may be quieter. 
Details like this will be provided with a description of the event opportunity, and volunteers will have the opportunity to choose what works best for them. We are also open to collaborating with you to find ways to make events of interest work for you!
