The Centre for Family Literacy provides free family and adult literacy programs in Edmonton. We also offer training for literacy professionals, resources for families, and raise awareness for literacy across Canada.

Literacy weaves through all aspects of family and community life - through health, employment, education, social welfare, and justice. It is the foundation for all other learning. Family literacy programs focus on developing literacy within the family as a whole.

Family Literacy is not just about reading and writing. It's about developing stronger relationships between adults and their children and getting adults involved in their children's education. It is about building stronger families and healthy communities.

We also support adult learners on their literacy journey, building on strengths and meeting the individual needs of the learners.

In partnership with community organizations, our programs support language and literacy development within a family context. We open new windows of opportunity so that Alberta families can achieve what they imagine—improved education, jobs, and health.
