CNIB Call Volunteers

CNIB is seeking 3 volunteer Event Callers to support our community programs by contacting participants with sight loss and sharing information about upcoming events and opportunities. Weekly Callers phone a list of 40-80 people with sight loss (approx. once a week) to let them know about upcoming events or programs. Over time, the volunteers get to know the people they are calling and can tailor their calls to individuals. This is an important position as at least 80% of our event attendance comes from these calls. Responsibilities and Tasks • Ability to convey specific information and follow call scripts promoting upcoming events or programs in a positive, upbeat way. • Ability to connect and empathize with callers who share their personal story or journey. • Calling CNIB clients to notify them of upcoming events or programs • Listening to them empathetically and answering any questions • Documenting responses and ensuring members are provided everything they need to attend events they’re interested in • Following up with members to answer questions • Getting to know the members you’re calling Qualities, Skills and Training • Patient, empathetic, friendly and positive personality. • Ability to follow directions, organize tasks and meet deadlines • Reliable and able to work with minimal supervision. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Comfortable working with individuals with vision loss. • Training: attend standard volunteer orientation • Minimum 18 years old. Position Commitment Long Term preferable, 6 months initial preferred
