The Bredin Centre for Learning provides responsive services that empower and connect people to fully contribute to our community through pathways to education and employment. Founded in 1976, Bredin continues to grow and adapt to the needs of all Albertans. We are invested in our community and have a team of over 100 professionals supporting over 6,000 clients a year. Bredin is governed by a board of high-level professionals who share their divers business experience to support our commitment to Albertans. Our goal is to help people build a better future by providing innovative programming, skilled staff and an inclusive environment. As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the Centre. The board sets the future of the Centre by developing framework policy and strategic direction together with the Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements of Board Members include:

Able to contribute 2-4 daytime weekday hours per month for Board and committee activities.
Commitment to the work of the Centre.
Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance (policy, finance, personnel, and advocacy).
Willingness to serve on committees (HR, Finance,…).
Attendance at Annual General Meeting.
Attendance and support of special events.
Board recruitment is ongoing but the Board is currently seeking potential members with expertise in strategic planning, policy, and finance. Previous Board experience is an asset but training opportunities are available.
