Animal Research Ethics Board

Edmonton

MacEwan University Animal Research Ethics Board is seeking a volunteer to join our committee as a community representative!

Animal Research Ethics Boards (AREBs) are at the center of an institution’s animal care and use program. They are directly involved in all significant decisions with respect to animal care and use and report directly to a senior administrator. AREBs are responsible for ensuring ethical animal care and use by the institution and compliance with Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines. Most notably, AREBs are required to evaluate the ethical acceptability of any proposed animal use protocol before the study is allowed to commence.
