Do you want to be involved in the day-to-day work supporting people living with dementia and their care partners? Are you friendly, dedicated, and organized? Are you looking to gain experience in an office environment? In this role, you would be completing much needed tasks for the daily operation of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories offices, client programs, and much more.

Position Purpose:
The volunteer General Office Assistant provides administrative support to Client Services and/or the Provincial Office of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & Northwest Territories (AS ABNT).
In support of the AS ABNT mission, this volunteer position is critical to supporting people living with dementia and their care partners by completing the day-to-day organizational and administrative activities that ensure we are providing person centered support to every person who contacts AS ABNT. The tasks and responsibilities completed ensure the successful offering of exceptional programs, services, and support to AS ABNT clients and stakeholders.

Tasks / Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the general office assistant may include, but are not limited to:
• General office administration and Client Services program support including:
o Client information package preparation
o Mailout preparation (stuffing envelopes, adding sticker addresses)
o Updating display of information for clients
o Creation of program binders
o Stocking and display of the resource library
o Stocking/preparation of tabling or information booth bins
o Preparation for programs such as room set-up and making coffee/tea
• Cleaning and organizing tasks of the office to ensure a presentable and welcoming space for clients and other stakeholders.
• Seasonal or special project related activities, such as decorating, event set-up or takedown, etc.
• Follow guidelines, policies, and procedures for volunteering with AS ABNT

Skills:
• Experience working in an office environment
• Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor
• General knowledge of computers and office equipment

Location / Setting: AS ABNT office. May include sitting, standing, and or moving around the office dependent on tasks. Some lifting (up to 25lbs or 10kgs) may be required for tasks that
include moving materials/resources out or into storage. AS ABNT is committed to inclusivity and will make every effort to make accommodations or find suitable tasks for each volunteer’s skills, abilities, and interests.

Time Commitment:
Flexible schedule available during regular office hours. Activities to be pre-scheduled with volunteer.

Supervision:
Primary contact and supervision will be through the Program Assistant or a member of the Client Services Team, depending on the tasks being completed.

Evaluation / Feedback:
Annual reviews with primary staff contact will be completed. Feedback encouraged and surveys sent regularly by Volunteer Engagement Coordinator for opportunity to provide formal feedback.
