Dementia Supportive Communities Initiative - Multiple Volunteer Roles

Our Dementia Supportive Communities Project is looking to connect with businesses, community organizations, and individuals to provide learning and growth on how to support people living with dementia to be better supported and involved in their local communities. 

We are looking for volunteers throughout Alberta for both in-person and online sessions to be offered.

To volunteer for Dementia Supportive Communities review the volunteer roles below: 

Training Advisory Committee Member - Support the development and improvement of DSC training workshops through reviewing and providing feedback regarding training materials provided. Committee meetings to be held bimonthly to quarterly depending on pace of training development.

Marketing Advisory Committee Member - Support with promotion and awareness of DSC and the available trainings being offered through providing insight into where and how to market the trainings, along with reviewing promotional materials and providing feedback on design and language. 

DSC Trainer - Provide training to community partners regarding dementia and strategies for supporting people living with dementia within community and work settings using reviewed and approved workshop materials. Trainings may be provided in-person or online. 

DSC Talking Circle Facilitator - Facilitate a discussion group where community partners listen and learn from a speaker with lived dementia experience and then have time to ask questions and discuss their thoughts on dementia supportive actions to take as individuals and groups. 

DSC Talking Circle Speaker - Share story of lived experience with dementia as someone living with dementia or as a care partner regarding experiences in community (topics could include employment, interacting with friends or in social settings, completing community tasks such as going to the grocery store, or experiences regarding stigma) and answering questions from group presenting to.
