Do you enjoy connecting with people and helping them get to the right person or place? Are you friendly, dedicated and organized? Are you looking to gain experience as a volunteer receptionist greeting clients/visitors to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories? In this role, you would be the person who is making that first connection with clients and visitors of the Alzheimer Society, in-person, over the phone, or email. Our Mission: The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories brings awareness to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias; helps alleviate the personal and social consequences of the disease; provides education and support programs; and promotes and funds research into the cause, prevention and cure. Our Values: CARE: Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy Position Purpose: The volunteer Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & Northwest Territories (AS ABNT) In support of the AS ABNT mission, this volunteer position is critical to supporting people living with dementia and their care partners by acting as the first point of contact for clients and visitors. As a volunteer you will provide excellent front-level service to create a warm and welcoming environment. This position also supports day-to-day organizational and administrative activities that ensure we are providing person centered support to every person who contacts AS ABNT. Tasks / Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the administrative assistant include, but are not limited to: • Greet and assist clients and visitors • Answer incoming calls and inquiries and redirect as appropriate, providing basic information on programs and services and answering general questions about donations, etc. • Oversee reception email inbox, primarily redirecting to appropriate staff • General office administration support including client information package preparation and mailing, management and display of information for clients, creation of program binders, office phone coverage Location / Setting: Red Deer office in front-end reception area. Primarily sitting at a desk using computer and phone throughout volunteer hours.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Onboarding and training will be provided in person in a group setting in late August. Updates and enhanced training will be provided through volunteer opportunity. Feedback is encouraged both formally and informally.
