Alberta Parent-Child Assistance Program Council

The Alberta Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) Council's mission is to build capacity, integrate data, and amplify PCAP's impact so programs can continue as resourceful and relevant supports for individuals, families, and communities.
PCAP programs work with pregnant and recently post-partum individuals who struggle with substance use and are poorly connected with their community. Over three years, the participant and PCAP mentor work together towards the participant's own goals for wellness by building natural and community supports. The PCAP model operates with a theoretical framework of relational theory, stages of change and self-efficacy, and harm reduction, and mentors work from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspective.
