Sheldon M. Chumir Urgent Care Intake Volunteer

A new exciting opportunity exists for you to contribute in a meaningful way to the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre Urgent Care department. In this hands-on role, you will be supporting patients and assisting staff to maintain an efficient flow throughout the urgent care department.

We are looking for self-directed and accountable volunteers with a mature mindset. You must have the self-confidence to maintain boundaries and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. This opportunity will appeal to those who are looking for a real way to contribute to health care. A commitment to a regular weekly shift is required. Various shifts are available 7 days a week: 8 am - 11 am, 11 am - 2 pm, and 2 pm - 5 pm. As with other sites, free parking is provided for volunteers. 

Some of your duties will include:
Wayfinding: assisting patients to their rooms and moving them throughout the department as directed
Providing food, and water, if directed
Providing blankets, patient support and solace
Stocking supplies
Tidying intake area
Clothing program and food pantry management
Additional duties as assigned
