Volunteer- Remote Support Program (online)

AdaptAbilities is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities to grow, succeed, and belong. We are seeking volunteers to support adults with disabilities through our Remote Support Program hosted on Discord. This role focuses on building connection, engagement, and community in a safe and inclusive online environment.

Our Discord server is open 24/7, allowing volunteers to engage when it works for them, with no expectation to be online at all times. Scheduled programming typically runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, with additional opportunities for spontaneous and volunteer-led engagement.

What You’ll Do
• Engage with participants on our Discord server in a respectful and inclusive way
• Participate in scheduled online programs when available
• Lead or host optional activities based on your interests, such as movie nights, gaming sessions, cooking sessions, book clubs, sports watch-alongs, or casual hangouts
• Support positive social interaction and community building

Who We’re Looking For
• Volunteers who are 18 years of age or older.
• Comfortable with technology, experience with Discord is a strong asset.
• Friendly, reliable, and inclusive communicators.
• Passionate about sharing hobbies or interests online
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset but not required

Requirements
• Completion of the AdaptAbilities volunteer application.
• Participation in a brief virtual interview
• Completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (required prior to starting)
