AdaptAbilities provides meaningful programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities and volunteers play a key role in making that possible. As a volunteer, you’ll help create supportive, inclusive spaces where participants can build friendships, learn new skills, and have fun. Working alongside our program staff, you’ll assist with daily activities, provide encouragement, and help each participant reach their personal goals. Our programs run at different times, allowing flexibility to fit your schedule. We’re looking for volunteers to support participants at our Orange Hub Respite Center in a variety of programs, including: Community Connect: Provides adults ages 20+ individualized, person-centered programming, focused on personal strengths, interests, and desires. People build confidence and connection with community through meaningful and purposeful activities, volunteerism, and employment opportunities. Out of School Care (OSC) & High School Transition (HST): The OSC program is designed for children aged 12 to 17, who require a little extra support after school and are no longer able to access a daycare. Children under the age of 12 are accepted on an individual basis. High School Transition supports individuals 18+ who are continuing their high school education. Participants will begin to explore independence through experiential learning opportunities. Social Nights: Weekly social nights allow pre-teens, teens and adults to hang out and build lasting relationships with new friends! Each activity is geared towards decision-making, increasing independence, and improving inclusivity. Weekend Respite: Provides individuals age 3+ with high-quality care in a safe, supportive, and fun environment, while parents run errands, take an essential break, or enjoy coffee with a friend. This opportunity is ideal for anyone who wants to gain hands-on experience and make a positive difference in the lives of participants. Orientation and training are provided to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role.
Certification or Education Required
No specific certifications are required. First Aid/CPR or experience working with individuals with disabilities is an asset but not mandatory. Training and orientation are provided to ensure volunteers feel prepared and supported in their role.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?

You can look forward to: -Meaningful work that makes a real impact in the lives of children, youth, and adults with disabilities -Skill development and growth opportunities for those exploring careers in human services, education, special needs support, or healthcare. -A culture of appreciation and recognition that celebrates your contributions.
