LOCATED AT 12 Brower Drive Sherwood Park. Mealtime Companion assists with spending time with residents living in our care during mealtime, allowing residents to remain as independent as possible. Volunteers enable resident to enjoy a hot meal with the friendly caring support of a volunteer. Volunteer assistance with resident's free up time for nursing to focus on other residents in need of a high degree of care. Some residents may require total assistance, others may just require cueing and help with choosing a menu item, cutting up food to bite size portions and replenishing their beverage. Friendly chat and a pleasant disposition are enough to make a difference in the dining experience for a resident requiring assistance. Volunteers may assist with any of the three mealtimes: Breakfast 9am, Lunch 12:00pm and Supper 5pm. You may choose to come in any of the mealtimes depending on your availability. Regular commitments are appreciated. Ideal for volunteers aged 17+ Training provided for "Loving Spoonful" is part of this much needed volunteer opportunity. As a registered volunteer, other volunteer opportunities are available for you. You can start off slow as a Mealtime Assistant, serving and companion during meals, then when comfortable you can receive the Loving Spoonful Training we provide in order for you to become a Mealtime Companion.
