Business Operations Analyst (Volunteer)

IAABC Foundation is seeking a Business Operations Analyst to support the development of clear, accessible, and sustainable documentation for volunteer-run operational roles. This role focuses on eliciting and documenting current-state processes across programs, identifying gaps in clarity or consistency, and translating informal practices into standardized SOPs.
The ideal candidate brings strong business analysis and facilitation skills, is comfortable working with volunteers across time zones, and can quickly understand the tools and workflows used across diverse operational roles.

Responsibilities

1. Process Discovery & Analysis
Partner with volunteers and program leads to elicit current-state workflows, responsibilities, and decision points.
Conduct interviews, working sessions, and asynchronous information gathering to document how work is actually performed.
Identify inconsistencies, undocumented practices, and operational dependencies across roles.

2. SOP Development & Documentation
Develop clear, role-specific SOPs that support onboarding, knowledge transfer, and continuity.
Translate complex or informal processes into accessible, step-by-step documentation.
Ensure SOPs reflect realistic volunteer capacity and tooling constraints.

3. Tool & Workflow Familiarity
Rapidly learn and document how volunteers use organizational tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Monday.com, Airtable, etc.).
Capture tool usage within SOPs to support consistency and ease of adoption.

4. Collaboration
Work closely with the Strategy Director and program leadership to align documentation with broader operational goals.
Support iterative refinement of SOPs as roles evolve.

Job Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Experience in business analysis, operations documentation, or process mapping
Strong facilitation, listening, and synthesis skills
Experience documenting processes in collaborative or volunteer-based environments
Ability to quickly understand and document unfamiliar tools and workflows
