Metal Recycling and Salvage Team

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a social enterprise that sells new and used building materials, furniture, appliances, electronics and so much more. The funds from the sales of the donated goods goes towards building homes for families in need. 

Time commitment is a of 2-4 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months. 

OVERVIEW: A recycling volunteer helps strip away valuable metal from non working appliances, older windows and miscellaneous household items. 
 By sorting and separating the high-value metal from scrap metal, we generate revenue that goes towards building homes. Volunteers will learn the difference in the manufactured materials and deconstruct, sort and recycle many of the items that would normally go into landfill. 

DUTIES: 
- Strip electrical cords from appliances
- Sort metal into appropriate bins
- Breakdown items to collect valuable metals

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Moving & bending
- Lifting 
- Use of hand tools
- Deconstruction of manufactured materials

No experience needed. We will train on all safety procedures, materials and processes. Your job will be to break things - how fun will that be!
