Volunteer Board Treasurer

The Friends of Strathcona Park is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to support the organization’s financial stewardship and help advance our mission of protecting, promoting, and enhancing Strathcona Provincial Park.

The Treasurer is a member of the Board of Directors and plays an important role in overseeing the organization’s financial health and accountability. Working collaboratively with a bookkeeper and the Board, the Treasurer helps ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain and oversee the organization’s financial records and accounts
- Prepare financial reports for Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
- Assist with developing and monitoring annual budgets
- Manage banking, deposits, and payments
- Ensure required filings and financial obligations are completed on time
- Support grant reporting and funding accountability as needed
- Work with the Board to support responsible financial planning and decision-making

Ideal Qualifications:

- Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable, with computer literacy skills 
- Interest in conservation, parks, outdoor recreation, or community stewardship
- Previous nonprofit or volunteer board experience is an asset, but not required
Note: Training and support available from previous treasurer during transition period

This is a volunteer position with flexible hours, primarily involving periodic Board meetings and occasional additional support throughout the year. While this role can be done remotely, it does need to be based in the Comox Valley area.
