Thrift Store Supporter
🌟 Volunteer at Thrift & Fund by Low Entropy Foundation 🌟 Role: Thrift Store Volunteer Are you friendly, reliable, and passionate about community connection? Join our welcoming team at Thrift & Fund, a social impact thrift store supporting programs through the Low Entropy Foundation. Our volunteers are the heart of our store—you’ll help create a warm and inclusive space while building valuable experience in a dynamic, community-focused environment. 🛍️ What You’ll Be Doing: As a volunteer, you'll support day-to-day operations and help create a positive, respectful experience for everyone in our store. Tasks include: Greeting customers with kindness and offering assistance Providing positive, respectful interactions with customers, staff, and fellow volunteers Receiving, sorting, and inspecting donations Merchandising, tagging, and pricing items Organizing and hanging clothing Promoting the store and encouraging donations 👉 Optional: Interested in cashiering? We offer cashier training for volunteers who are comfortable with processing payments. Only trained volunteers will be assigned to the till . 📅 Shifts: Standard shift times are: Weekdays (Mon - Fri): 9:30am - 1:00pm; 1:00pm - 5:00pm; 5:00pm - 7:30pm Weekends (Sat - Sun): 10:30am - 2:30pm; 2:30pm - 6:30pm Please note that not all of these shifts are currently available. ⏳ Commitment: Volunteers commit to a minimum of one shift per week Volunteers commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteering 📍 Location: Thrift & Fund by Low Entropy Foundation #408 – 552 Clarke Road, Coquitlam (Burquitlam Plaza) Next to Burquitlam SkyTrain Station and major bus routes. 💬 What We’re Looking For: Minimum Age to Volunteer: 15 years old Friendly, respectful, and reliable individuals Strong communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable engaging with diverse community members Able to work independently and as part of a team Able to focus for at least 30 minutes at a time Able to follow verbal instructions Able to volunteer in a retail store environment with minimal to medium one-on-one support Able to engage safely and respectfully with customers, staff, and peers Have a desire to give back and make a difference This may not be a fit if... There is no cost to applicants for this process. Accessibility & Inclusion Notes: Ground-level storefront (no stairs) Medium lighting and background music Typical lifting: up to 5kg; maximum occasionally up to 20kg Store is fairly busy, especially Sundays and Wednesdays May not be suitable for those with dust allergies Questions?
