We rescue food. We offer it to others. This role helps end food waste and grows food security.

We try to capture as much food as possible that was destined for the garbage but is still fit for human consumption. We then divert that food to other partners and to our Free Food Sheds in Cochrane and the surrounding area.

More Volunteers are needed to assist with gathering and distributing this food.

Most shifts are two hours in length and you are usually paired with another volunteer. Shifts are available all days of the week at multiple times mornings afternoons and evenings. Volunteers will need their own vehicle for this role. Training is provided. The ability to lift up to 40 pounds is recommended. 

Our main food rescue partners are Safeway, Save On Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart and Starbucks.

This position requires volunteers to complete free online Food Safety Training and Volunteers will be required to apply for a police check, agree to our Code of Conduct, sign a waiver, and upload photo ID.
