Parent and Tot Group Leader
Position Summary Ruth and Naomi’s Mission has been serving Chilliwack for over 20 years, walking with people on their journey out of homelessness, addiction, and trauma toward healing and hope. At the heart of everything we do is a desire to see lives transformed by the love of God, and as a Christian faith-based organization, we look for volunteers passionate about demonstrating care, compassion, and practical support. The Parent and Tot Group Leader will facilitate a weekly gathering in our chapel space for parents and their young children (ages 0-5). This role focuses on fostering healthy parent-child bonds and building a supportive community among families. Through play, songs, and storytelling, the leader will create an environment where families in our community can connect and grow together. Responsibilities • Set up and maintain a safe, welcoming play area with toys and activities in the chapel space. • Facilitate a "circle time" that encourages engagement between parents and their children. • Coordinate with Family Centre staff to provide healthy snacks for participants. • Create a non-judgmental space where parents can build relationships and share experiences. • Ensure the chapel space is left clean and organized after each session Ideal Candidate • Warm, welcoming, and patient with both children and adults. • Comfortable leading small groups in songs, rhymes, and interactive activities. • Understands the unique challenges faced by low-income or marginalized families. • Able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule. • Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check. • Supports the mission and values of Ruth & Naomi’s Mission. • Comfortable volunteering in a Christian faith-based environment.
