Outdoor Recreation Leader

Ruth & Naomi’s Mission has been serving Chilliwack for over 20 years, walking with people on their journey out of homelessness, addiction, and trauma toward healing and hope. As a Christian faith-based organization, we seek volunteers who demonstrate care, compassion, and practical support.
Recreation Leaders help participants stay active and connected through walks, river outings, and small hikes. Activities may take place on weekdays or weekends. A staff member can accompany outings when needed.
Please note: Some participants may be experiencing mental health challenges. Staff will help determine appropriate matches and ensure safe, suitable participants.
Responsibilities
•	Lead group walks or small hikes
•	Encourage participants in physical activity
•	Promote safe and respectful engagement outdoors
•	Communicate with staff about group needs and route planning
•	Report any safety or health concerns promptly
Ideal Candidate
•	Physically able to walk short or moderate distances
•	Encouraging and steady in group settings
•	Comfortable outdoors in various conditions
•	Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check
•	Supports the mission and values of Ruth & Naomi’s Mission
