Conversational English Partners

Commitment: 1 hours per week for 16 weeks
Dates: Starting from third week of July - 3rd week of November

We are looking for volunteer Conversation Partners to support Afghan female students preparing for online higher education opportunities and university study abroad.

Typically, each volunteer will work with two students who have an English level of approximately IELTS 5.5 or above. The role focuses on helping students strengthen their speaking and listening skills through natural conversation, encouraging them to move comfortably between past, present, and future tense while gradually expanding their vocabulary, confidence, and fluency.

No teaching experience is required; just an open mind and a willingness to engage in meaningful conversation with remarkable young people.

We are looking for volunteers with strong listening and communication skills who enjoy genuine dialogue and can create balanced, engaging conversations rather than dominating discussions themselves. The aim is to gently push the edge of each student’s ability while allowing them to communicate using language they already feel comfortable with. If helpful, we can also provide suggested discussion topics and conversational frameworks for sessions.

Role Description
Each session lasts one hour, once a week, for 16 weeks.
There is no set curriculum, but we can help you plan interesting discussion topics or theme-based sessions if you prefer structure.
Students may also suggest their own weekly topics.
