Counsellor / Psychotherapist / Psychologist - Virtual or In-Person
Ongoing
Access to Therapy Initiative is seeking qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists who are willing to volunteer their professional services to help people access affordable mental health care. Counselling may be provided virtually or in person, depending on the practitioner's location, professional requirements, and preferred method of practice. We are looking for practitioners who provide established counselling and psychotherapy services, including approaches such as: - Clinical counselling - Psychotherapy - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) - Person-centred therapy - Solution-focused therapy - Trauma-informed counselling - Emotion-focused therapy - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Grief and bereavement counselling - Couples or family counselling, where appropriately qualified - Other recognized counselling or psychotherapy approaches Our program is intended to provide professional mental health counselling. We are not currently seeking practitioners whose services are primarily based on spiritual healing, energy healing, divination, astrology, psychic practices, crystal healing, Reiki, past-life work, or similar alternative/spiritual practices. Practitioners must have appropriate education, qualifications, professional liability insurance, and any registration, certification, or authorization required to provide their services in the jurisdiction where the client is located. Volunteer Commitment: We ask volunteer practitioners to commit to providing a minimum of one counselling session every two weeks. Access to Therapy is designed around continuity of care. We tell clients that they may continue seeing their preferred practitioner for as long as the therapeutic relationship remains appropriate, rather than limiting clients to a predetermined number of sessions. For this reason, we are looking for practitioners interested in making a long-term commitment, rather than completing a short-term placement or a fixed number of volunteer hours.
Additional Details & Skills Required

Practitioners must be able to provide counselling independently and ethically within the scope of their education, training, registration, and professional standards.

We welcome registered or certified counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, clinical social workers providing psychotherapy, and similarly qualified mental health professionals. Applicants must maintain any registration, certification, supervision, and professional liability insurance required for their practice.
