Community Fundraising Ambassador - Grocery & Retail Tables

24-40 hours / weekly
Ongoing
Access to Therapy Initiative is looking for confident, outgoing volunteers to operate our fundraising tables at grocery stores, retail outlets, and other community locations.
This is an active fundraising position. Volunteers will set up and operate an Access to Therapy fundraising table, speak directly with members of the public, explain our mission, and ask people to consider making a donation to help Canadians access affordable counselling.

Our tables may include our charity banner, client impact stories, promotional materials, donation gifts, a Square payment terminal, and a cash donation box.
We are looking for people who are comfortable using their voice. You cannot be afraid to politely approach people, start conversations, explain why our work matters, and directly ask for donations. You should be friendly, energetic, respectful, and able to represent Access to Therapy professionally.

Responsibilities include:

- Setting up and taking down the fundraising table and materials
- Greeting and approaching people entering or leaving participating stores
- Explaining Access to Therapy Initiative and the impact donations make
- Directly asking members of the public to donate
- Accepting cash and electronic donations using our Square reader
- Offering designated thank-you gifts for qualifying donations
- Keeping the table organized, welcoming, and professional
- Safeguarding cash and fundraising equipment
- Counting and reconciling donations at the end of the shift
- Rolling coin donations when required
- Preparing and making authorized bank deposits according to our procedures
- Recording basic fundraising totals and reporting them to our organization

Time commitment:

Volunteers must be able to commit to one of the following regular schedules:

3 days per week at approximately 8 hours per day, or
5 days per week at approximately 4 hours per day.
We are looking for dependable volunteers who can make a consistent commitment rather than occasional one-time shifts.
Because this position involves fundraising, cash handling, electronic payment equipment, and representing our organization independently in the community, reliability and trustworthiness are extremely important.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Make a direct impact on access to mental health care while developing valuable experience in fundraising, public speaking, sales, community outreach, and nonprofit operations. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience representing a registered charity in the community, operating fundraising equipment, engaging with the public, and helping generate funding that directly supports counselling access.
