Youth Coding Club Teaching Assistant Volunteer

Youth Coding Club is our new 4-week program, where girls and gender-diverse youth can learn basic coding concepts and languages while actively working to close gender gaps in technology and redefine the image and role of a programmer. We are looking for outstanding volunteers to support this new program.

Overview: 
As a Youth Coding Club Teaching Assistant, the volunteer will play a vital role in supporting our Youth Coding Club's mission to teach young learners the fundamentals of coding and computer science. Responsibilities include assisting with 1-on-1 student problem-solving, helping create a supportive learning environment, and contributing to the overall positive experience for club participants. 

Location 
WINS Beltline Community Hub: 1003 - 11 Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T2R 0G1
WINS Dover Community Hub: 3525 26 Ave SE, Calgary, AB, T2B 2M9

Schedule
- Minimum of 05 hours per week per intake.
- Working hours between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm, may vary, but currently, on Tuesdays and  Thursdays.	 

Key Duties 
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students facing coding challenges or questions during club sessions. 
- Assist the club instructors in preparing and delivering engaging coding lessons and activities. 
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and problem-solving. 
- Help students troubleshoot technical issues and guide them in debugging their code. 
- Collaborate with other club assistants and instructors to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience. 
- Act as a role model and mentor for young learners, inspiring their interest in technology and coding. 
- Other duties as assigned.
