Youth Development Mentor

As a Youth Development Coach for the Salvation Army's youth program, your role is integral to empowering young individuals aged 13 to 17 in Forest Lawn. With the support of the Youth Facilitator, you could lead engaging sessions focused on areas such as arts, sports, life skills, financial literacy, and leadership.  You will provide participants with valuable knowledge and experiences to support their personal growth and development.

Key Accountabilities: Program Facilitation, Participant Engagement, Curriculum Development, Mentorship and Support, Community Engagement, Documentation and Reporting, Safety and Well-being, and Professional Development.

Volunteers will assist in the development of the program outline and facilitate classes.


Specific Program Roles include:

Leadership Program Facilitator
We are looking for a passionate and motivated volunteer to help facilitate a leadership program for youth aged 13-17. As a facilitator, you’ll guide participants through activities and discussions that focus on developing leadership skills, teamwork, and personal growth. This is a great opportunity to mentor young people and help them build confidence for the future. Once a week for two hours.

Video Games and Board Games Tournament Host
We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to lead a fun and exciting session that combines Super Smash Bros/ Mario Kart tournaments and board games for youth aged 13-17. You'll guide participants through both video game and board game challenges, creating an engaging, fast-paced environment where teamwork and friendly competition thrive.
Once a month, every third Wednesday of the month 4:30-6:30 pm

Manga Artist (Workshop Leader)
We are looking for a talented manga artist to volunteer as a workshop leader for a one-time session with youth aged 13-17. As the manga artist, you'll introduce participants to the art of manga, guiding them through drawing techniques, character creation, and storytelling through visuals. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your passion for manga with young, creative minds!

Racket Sports Coach (Badminton, Table Tennis, or Pickleball)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated volunteer to join our team as a Racket Sports Coach for our youth programs. The coach will lead fun and engaging sessions for youth aged 13-17, focusing on either badminton, table tennis, or pickleball (no need to know how to play all three). The goal is to introduce the youth to these sports, help them develop basic skills, and promote physical activity in a supportive and inclusive environment. The program is on Mondays from 4:30 - 6:30 (You don't need to commit to every Monday)
