Adult Education Program Assistant

2-4 hours / weekly
3 to 4 months
To facilitate basic skills in one or more selected areas: (Please indicate which role you are applying for)
•	ESL - English as a second language (i.e. conversational, reading and writing) 
•	Art program 

Key Accountabilities: 
•	Facilitate classes independently to clients accessing The Salvation Army programs
•	Mentor clients by encouraging functional skill development for living, learning and working 
•	Coach learners in a group or one-to-one settings in various program areas. 
•	Assist in the development of program outline and curriculum
•	Assist with the program evaluation

Working Conditions: 
•	Typically work regular business hours, although may be required to work evenings and weekends to accommodate the schedule of the participants
•	Work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
•	Must be able to adapt their teaching methods to meet the needs of a variety of learners
•	Be able to think on their feet to troubleshoot problems that may arise during class time
•	Operates under minimal supervision and will work directly with clients when facilitating one-on-one or group classes
