The Salvation Army: Warming Station Helper
Ongoing
The Warming Station helper is responsible for assisting the support workers in setting up warming stations at various locations throughout the city to provide warmth, food, and clothing to the unhoused during the winter months. The team travels to two different locations per day setting up the warming station and monitoring the activities of participants using the Mobile Warming Station to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations, as well as providing a safe and clean space for all. Volunteers should be prepared to work outside in inclement weather and physically able to help set up tables and meals. Shift times are daily from 11am - 1pm and 3pm-5pm
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Calgary gets chilly in the winter. For those facing outdoor weather conditions all the time, our warming station saves people from frostbite, freezing, and other winter conditions. Your contribution is truly life changing whether it is a moment away from the cold or a warm bowl of soup.
