Role Overview

The Director of FRC (Calgary) serves as the department lead for all FRC-related initiatives within STEM for the Future. This role oversees people, programs, policies, and performance for the FRC department while ensuring alignment with organizational values, youth protection standards, and long-term goals.

This is a high-level leadership position ideal for someone who wants to build and run a department, not just a robot.

Key Responsibilities
-FRC Department Strategy & Leadership
-Lead the vision, structure, and strategic direction of STEM for the Future’s FRC department
-Design scalable systems for team operations, mentor engagement, and youth leadership
-Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term growth and sustainability
-Team & Mentor Management
-Recruit, onboard, train, and manage FRC mentors, leads, and volunteers
-Establish clear departmental roles, expectations, and accountability systems
-Support youth leaders within the FRC program
-Youth Safety & Compliance
-Ensure full compliance with FIRST Youth Protection Policies (YPP)
-Enforce STEM for the Future’s safeguarding, conduct, and risk-management standards
-Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional environment across all FRC activities
-Operations & Program Delivery
-Oversee build space operations, schedules, attendance, and safety procedures
-Manage competition readiness, registrations, logistics, and equipment use
-Ensure consistency and quality across all FRC programming
-Partnerships, Growth & Representation
-Serve as the primary representative for STEM for the Future’s FRC department
-Build relationships with FIRST, partner teams, sponsors, and community stakeholders
-Support sponsorship, grants, and public-facing initiatives related to FRC


Ideal Qualifications
-Strong leadership, organizational, and people-management skills
-Experience working with youth in structured or educational environments
-Ability to build systems, lead teams, and manage complex programs
-Commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth development
-Must be 18+ and able to pass screening and safeguarding requirements
