Social Justice Impact Curator – Amplifying Research on Parental Substance Use Stigma

This role is for individuals who are eager to make research, policies, and information in the news relevant and accessible to youth aged 16-28 regarding the stress and stigma of a parents substance use through a social justice lens. Our knowledge equity team at Starlings is a collaborative group of volunteers working to challenge harmful narratives by critically engaging with research, and making literature accessible and transformative for the communities we serve, with a focus on families affected by the stigma of a parent's substance use, and other intersecting challenges.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Ideally, the volunteer is able to meet in Calgary once per month for a collective session to review literature and once per month for a virtual working group.
Certification or Education Required
We are seeking an individual who, through personal passion or professional experience, possesses knowledge of and a willingness to further learn about, one or more of the following areas: Social determinants of health Intersectionality Harm reduction Trauma-informed care Health equity Literature review Public health policy Graphic design Journalism A genuine interest in these topics and a commitment to continued growth are highly valued.
