The Safe Haven Foundation was founded in 1996 and in November of 2000 we opened the doors to our founding program, our Haven’s Way™ homes. This program has been widely recognized as the first of its kind in Canada and we are still set apart by our commitment to education, family values and long-term supports.

Haven’s Way™ duplicates a healthy, loving and supportive family environment for homeless and at-risk girls between the ages of 14 and 24, who do not have child welfare status. In addition to the Haven’s Way™ Program, we deliver Educational Scholarship and Therapeutic Recreation Programs giving the girls in the homes opportunities to further their education, pursue their passions, and build self-esteem

More than 80 young women have called Haven’s Way™ ‘Home. There is no set length of stay and the average time a girl will live at Haven’s Way™ is two years, but some have stayed as long as four years. Age is not the determining factor when a girl moves out, rather it is a mutual decision that is made in much the same manner as a nuclear family.

Haven’s Angels is the Volunteer and Ambassador arm established by Safe Haven Foundation as a separate non-profit society. The overreaching goal is to recognize key supporters (donors, staff and volunteers) who may also initiate fundraising events on behalf of the Foundation’s programs. A strong framework is currently being developed for this society to provide opportunities for personal growth and recognition for those who are committed to working towards a common goal of making a high impact difference in supporting Safe Haven Foundation’s mission to Help Give Calgary’s Homeless and At-Risk Teenage Girls Their Future Back.
