Finance Committee Members Needed

Overview Quest Theatre is seeking two-to-three finance committee members to support the treasurer and strengthen financial oversight, continuity and succession planning. Purpose of the Role The finance committee supports the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities by overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting and audit processes. This role is also part of a structured succession plan to train members as backups to the treasurer. Key Responsibilities Review and discuss monthly/quarterly financial reports Support oversight of the annual budgeting process Monitor financial risks and internal controls Ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA and regulatory requirements Review financial statements and reporting integrity Assist in audit preparation and liaison with auditors Support financial planning and sustainability discussions Succession/ ackup Responsibilities Receive training from the treasurer Learn reporting, audit, and Board presentation processes Be prepared to step in as backup treasurer if needed Qualifications CPA (preferred) or strong accounting/finance background 5+ years of relevant experience Understanding of financial statements, budgeting and controls Interest in governance and non-profit sector Time Commitment Six finance committee meetings per year (virtual) Optional Board meeting participation (~six per year) Additional time for preparation
Certification or Education Required
Qualifications CPA (preferred) or strong accounting/finance background 5+ years of relevant experience Understanding of financial statements, budgeting and controls Interest in governance and non-profit sector
