Conservation Volunteers: Thistle Be the One!
Bunchberry Meadows Conservation Area, 1B5, Range Rd 261, Spruce Grove, AB, T7Y 1B1
[map]
Ongoing
Bunchberry Meadows is located just west of Edmonton and is home to a variety of plant species, including goldenrod, yarrow and bluebell. Since these native species are often in competition with invasive weeds, it is up to us to help remove their competitors. We will be targeting and removing creeping thistle, which will be dug up, bagged and taken off the property. Pulling invasive plants encourages biodiversity and provides us with an opportunity to make a positive change, all while honing our identification skills and educating ourselves about the land. 9 am to 1 pm, Thursday, July 24 Please see the natureconservancy.ca link for details and to register.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Enjoy the fresh air of Bunchberry Meadows and its beautiful scenery while helping to make room for native plants to grow.
