Downtown CIC Helper

Are you passionate about supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and making a positive impact in their lives? Join us as a Community Impact Centre (CIC) Helper and play a vital role in providing essential assistance and support.
As a CIC Helper, you will help create a safe, caring and supportive environment for guests, clients, and volunteers. You will work directly with individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty; your role may involve running services (coffee house, computer lab, lockers, laundry, etc.), distributing essential items, providing information about available services, offering a listening ear, and connecting individuals with community resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a helpful demeanor while interacting with guests, volunteers, donors, and staff.
- Support programming as needed – running computer lab, helping at coffee house, running the haircut list, helping at reception, assigning lockers, etc.  
- Distribute essential items such as food, water, clothing, and hygiene products.
- Engage in compassionate conversations and actively listen to the needs and concerns of individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Be attentive and helpful to guest inquiries re: directions to appointments, social services within the city, programming at other TMS sites, etc. 
- Other duties as needed.

Available Shifts:
Weekdays 
8:00am - 12pm 
12pm - 3pm 
3pm - 6:30pm
Time Commitment: volunteers must commit to 1 set shift per week for a minimum of 4 months starting mid-October/beginning of November. 

Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be approved by Mustard Seed staff
- Must complete a volunteer agreement
- Must complete a police information check with a vulnerable sector check
- Must complete POPA training
