Coffee House Host (Downtown)

Are you passionate about spreading hospitality and creating a welcoming atmosphere? Join us as a Coffee House Host at our Downtown Community Impact Centre and help serve hot drinks to our guests experiencing homelessness. This volunteer role offers a great opportunity to connect with our guests, learn more about their experiences, and support our organization's mission each day.

As a Coffee House Host, you will play a vital role in running our free coffee house, which operates every morning and evening at the Downtown CIC. Your responsibilities include serving hot drinks to guests as they come in for appointments and programming, spreading hospitality, and creating a warm and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a selection of hot drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.) to guests.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, offering hospitality and conversation.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the coffee house area.
- Learn more about our guests' experiences and provide support and empathy as needed.

Available Shifts:
Mondays 8:45am - 11:15am
Mondays 3:45pm - 6:15pm
Tuesdays 3:45pm - 6:15pm
Wednesdays 3:45pm - 6:15pm
Fridays 3:45pm - 6:15pm
Commitment: 1 set shift per week for a minimum of 4 months. 

Requirements:
- Friendly and approachable demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse individuals.
- Compassion and empathy towards guests experiencing homelessness.
- Respect for confidentiality and privacy regarding guests' personal information.
- Willingness to contribute to creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Registration Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age. 
- Must complete a volunteer agreement form. 
- Must be approved by Mustard Seed staff.
- Must complete a Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector search.
