Calgary MCC Thrift Shop is always looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team. By volunteering with us, you’ll do more than support a retail store, you’ll help people in need locally and globally through the work of Mennonite Central Committee. Volunteering is a meaningful way to build your resume, develop new skills, serve with purpose, and form lasting friendships. There are many reasons to volunteer with us and many ways to get involved. Available Volunteer Roles for Retail: Greeter: Welcome customers, assist them with their shopping needs, inform about our sales and brighten someone's day with your smile. Cashier: Help create a kind and caring presence in the community while raising funds that support MCC’s relief, development, and peace initiatives around the world. Retail Assistant: Retail assistants help keep our sales floor organized and inviting. Cleaning Support: Help ensure our shop remains fresh and enjoyable for customers! Available Departments in the Warehouse: Clothing: You'll be tagging and pricing already sorted clothes, following the price list to ensure consistency. Housewares: Here you'll be sorting household items, do light cleaning if needed, testing electrical appliances, and pricing them! Linens: Here you will help sort and price linens (quilts, towels, bedding, etc.) that can elevate people's home for a low cost! Other Positions: Swamper or Furniture Pickup Ride-Along: Assist the truck driver with bringing in furniture and boxes, skipping those unnecessary gym fees. Social Media Content Creation Position: Capture photos and videos, and design content for Carousels or Reels. What We’re Looking For Individuals who value community and service. Dependable volunteers able to commit to a regular shift. Team players who enjoy working in a collaborative environment. People who are willing to learn and contribute in a positive way.
