Sisters Quran School Teacher

The Islamic Centre of South Calgary (ICSC) is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to serve as Quran School Teachers. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing engaging and nurturing instruction to children and youth in various aspects of Quranic studies.

Varying classes available from ages 7 to 17 years old.

Responsibilities:
- Teach students proper recitation of the Holy Quran (Tajweed) and assist them in memorization (Hifdh) according to their individual levels and pace.
- Educate students on basic Islamic principles, values, and manners as derived from the Quran and Sunnah.
- Create a positive, encouraging, and respectful learning environment that fosters spiritual growth and a love for the Quran.
- Prepare and deliver lessons effectively, utilizing age-appropriate teaching methods and materials.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and, where appropriate, to parents/guardians.
- Maintain open communication with ICSC Quran School administration regarding student progress, concerns, and curriculum needs.
- Adhere to ICSC policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and organized classroom setting.
- Act as a positive role model for students, embodying Islamic character and ethics.

Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading and reciting the Holy Quran with proper Tajweed.
- Strong understanding of basic Islamic knowledge and principles.
- Experience working with children and/or youth in an educational or mentorship capacity is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to impart Islamic knowledge.
- Ability to commit to a once a week on Saturday
- Successful completion of a background check will be required.
