Inside Out Theatre is a vibrant and community-rooted Deaf, Disability, and Mad theatre company based in Calgary. We are known for our artistic innovation, our commitment to disability culture and leadership, and our belief that theatre can be a tool for connection, belonging, and joyful self-expression. Our mission is to produce and present plays that showcase the creativity and vibrancy of Disabled, Deaf, and Mad artists; to host community-based drama programs that nurture relationships and reduce isolation; and to deepen accessibility practices in the wider arts sector so that audiences and artists alike can participate with dignity and autonomy. We are in a milestone moment in our company’s history. In addition to our ongoing programming and community-based work, we are in the final stages of developing The Erratics Indie Arts Club, a new multi-purpose arts venue in Calgary’s Beltline. This space will expand opportunities for performance, gathering, and cultural access in the city, and marks an exciting next chapter in our role as a leader in Calgary’s arts community. Learn more at: www.insideouttheatre.com & www.erraticsindie.ca We are seeking a volunteer Board Secretary to join our Board of Directors and support this next stage of growth and impact. Position: Board Secretary (Volunteer) The Board Secretary is a key administrative officer of the Board and plays a central role in maintaining clear, organized communication and records. We are seeking someone who is proactive, motivated, well-organized, and comfortable coordinating information and schedules. Key Responsibilities: • Lead scheduling of quarterly Board meetings and assist in coordinating committee meetings when needed. • Prepare agendas in collaboration with the Board Chair and Artistic & Executive Director. • Take, compile, and distribute accurate Board meeting minutes and ensure they are approved and properly archived. • Maintain up-to-date Board records and governance documents, including tracking Board terms, motions, and policy updates. • Support clear and timely communication among Board members. This role does not require prior board experience—just strong organizational abilities and a willingness to learn. About the Board Our Board of Directors provides governance and strategic leadership to ensure Inside Out Theatre fulfills its mandate with care, responsibility, and ambition. The Board meets four times per year. Board members also participate in at least one committee or task force. Terms are 3 years, renewable. We deeply value both lived and professional experience and are committed to a board that reflects our community’s diversity of ability, gender, age, income, and ethnicity.
