Join our organization as a Board Member and help shape the future of our community’s support for individuals with disabilities. As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in guiding our mission of promoting independent living and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

The Independent Living Resource Centre Calgary was founded in 1985 by a group of dedicated volunteers. Our organization is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities to live their lives to the fullest. We provide support, resources, and programs that help people achieve their level of independence, which means making decisions about their own lives, having control over their choices, and being able to participate fully in the community. Our services include workshops, peer support, mentorship, and more, all designed to help individuals build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. We believe in creating an inclusive world where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to live independently and make choices that align with their personal goals and values.

We are seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to contribute their expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to help us continue this important work.

Responsibilities: 
-Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings (typically lasting under 2 hours).
-Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the organization’s programs and operations.
-Help shape the long-term vision and goals of the organization.
-Contribute your skills and expertise in areas such as fundraising, governance, program development, marketing, or community outreach.
-Act as an ambassador for the organization, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and supporters.

Skills & Qualifications:
-Experience in leadership, governance, or a related field (non-profit experience is a plus).
-Passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and promoting inclusive communities.
-Ability to think strategically and contribute to long-term planning.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Board meetings are held once per month, typically lasting under 2 hours.
Additional time may be needed for participation in subcommittees or special initiatives.
