Companion Visiter Volunteer
The volunteer is responsible for connecting with assigned clients/families to offer friendship, support navigating resources, spend time together, good listening skills, required. The volunteer is matched with a client who has requested to be matched for visits weekly. Sometimes they client needs a good person to listen when they are having a hard day or sometimes a person to chat with, play cards or a board game when they are having a good day.
Additional Details & Skills Required
All training is done by Hospice Calgary • Making regular connections with the client/family as determined through ongoing assessments that involve staff • Develop relationships with clients and their families either through in person • Offer emotional support, companionship, and an empathic listening presence • Understand what is important to clients in terms of quality of life • Find resources and connect clients and families with those resources
Certification or Education Required
Great for social work student but not required
