Volunteer at Heritage Park’s Railway Days

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Railway Days at Heritage Park Historical Village on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20!

Railway Days is a weekend filled with steam-powered experiences and railway history. Guests can enjoy authentic train and caboose rides, turntable and telegraph demonstrations, model train displays, presentations, live entertainment and more. Learn more about Railway Days.

Volunteer Roles

Volunteers can choose the role that interests them most:

Door Host: Welcome guests and assist at the entrance to one of the event buildings.
Crossing Guard: Help guests cross the railway tracks safely.
Greeter and Activity-Sheet Stamper: Welcome families and stamp children’s activity sheets.
Caboose Ride Ticket Checker: Check tickets before guests board the caboose.
Dates and Shifts

Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20

Morning shift: 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Afternoon shift: 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Volunteers may apply for a morning shift, an afternoon shift or the full day.

Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
Volunteers should be comfortable welcoming and assisting guests.
Some roles take place outdoors, so please dress for the weather.
We require Volunteers to check in and out of their shift. 

Recommended Attire and Required Equipment

Volunteers may wear:
Casual pants or jeans without rips, a shirt with sleeves that covers the midriff, comfortable shoes, and outerwear, a hat and sunscreen as needed

Volunteers should also:

Wear a volunteer lanyard (provided at check-in)
Bring a reusable water bottle

Morning volunteers can enjoy lunch after their shift, while afternoon volunteers can eat before their shift begins. Volunteers helping for the full day will receive a break to pick up and enjoy their lunch.

Once you apply, Heritage Park’s Volunteer Engagement team will contact you with your selected role details, parking information, check-in location and other pre-event information.
