🚸 Volunteer Opportunity: Crossing Guards – School Patrol Day Heritage Park | June 4 & 5, 2025 Join us for one of the most exciting (and energetic!) days of the year—AMA’s School Patrol Appreciation Day Picnic. Help us keep thousands of Alberta’s student safety patrollers safe and smiling as they explore Heritage Park! 🗓 Event Dates Wednesday, June 4, 2025 Thursday, June 5, 2025 ⏰ Shift Times Morning Shift: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM (Check-in at 9:00 AM) Afternoon Shift: 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM (Check-in at 11:30 AM) ✅ What You’ll Be Doing As a Crossing Guard volunteer, you’ll help maintain a safe environment for students moving across the park grounds—especially at train crossings. Duties include: Stopping foot traffic as needed when trains approach Being alert and aware of surroundings Keeping things organized and cheerful with a “firm but fun” approach Referring any issues to a staff member 🧢 What to Wear & Bring Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing: casual pants or jeans (no rips), a shirt with sleeves (must cover the midriff), comfortable shoes, and outerwear suited to the forecast. A hat and sunscreen are recommended for sunny days. Closed-toe shoes (no sandals) Hat, sunscreen, and refillable water bottle We’ll provide a yellow safety vest and volunteer name badge at check-in ⚠️ Risk Considerations Outdoor environment with exposure to weather Uneven ground may lead to slips or trips Standing for extended periods High-energy environment with large crowds and school groups 🔄 Accessibility & Accommodations This activity may involve standing, walking, and navigating busy areas.
