Human Resources Manager

8-10 hours / monthly
1 year term with opportunity to extend
WHO ARE WE?
Our mission is to create projects teaching unique and specialized sport and active play programs to children in need. Through education and mentorship, our goal is for each project to leave a positive and sustainable impact on the children and their community.

We aim to help children and youth who participate in our projects reach their fullest potential, while building self esteem, self confidence and acceptance of others. 
Our programs are designed to help disadvantaged youth develop and grow in all areas; physically, socially, emotionally and mentally.


Our goal is to reach and teach children in need wherever they may be. 
Whether in Canada or beyond to the developing countries, we hope to change the lives of children in our projects while encouraging the sustainability of the program teaching those involved to keep playing forward. 


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Human Resources Coordinator will complete administrative duties for the human resources department of the organization. Using their excellent administrative and technology skills, they will be able to multi-task and adapt to the fast-paced environment around them. More specifically, they will assist the Volunteer Director with managing recruitment progress on candidates, maintain employee or volunteer HR records (e.g. offer letters), and support development of HR templates.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand the annual human resources strategy to support the organization and time management of different HR activities in the organization.
• Research appropriate HR templates and policies to use within the organization and develop standardized templates to use in areas like recruitment, performance management, etc.
• Partner with the human resources team and committee to brainstorm, develop and implement creative strategies to support HR initiatives within the organization.
• Using the approved templates, support drafting offer agreements for both employee and volunteer roles, as outlined by the Recruiters and forward completed documentation to them.
• Coordinate applicable training sessions and seminars for employees or volunteers.
• Act as the back-up to the Volunteer Director if they are absent or the role is vacant.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Demonstrated work, school, or volunteer experience in supporting the development of HR plans, with a strong preference for non-profit organizations, the fine arts, or education.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong editing and grammar skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to help keep the HR team on track.
• Self-starter, who is motivated by achieving human resources goals for the organization.
• Strong work ethic and passionate commitment to advancing the mission of the organization.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with other team members to achieve desired outcomes that support the mission of the organization.
• Friendly, professional demeanor and considered approachable by others they interact with.
• Strong organizational and process-driven skills, with an excellent follow-through on actions.
Certification or Education Required
Experience and education in the field of Human Resources as well as management experience
