Distribute approved promotional materials. Attend neighbourhood and cultural events. Explain eligibility and registration processes. Build relationships with newcomer families. Refer interested participants to GALED. Record outreach conversations and referrals. Identify barriers to participation. Gather community feedback. Represent GALED professionally. School and Youth Referral Ambassador Department: School Partnerships Commitment: 3–5 hours weekly Purpose To help GALED build referral relationships with schools, teachers, principals, counsellors and youth-serving organizations. Responsibilities Research appropriate schools and youth organizations. Prepare contact lists. Send approved introductory communications. Arrange meetings for GALED leadership. Follow up after presentations. Share registration materials. Track referral sources. Maintain communication with school contacts. Help coordinate school information sessions. Support youth-program calendars. Boundaries This volunteer must not independently promise programs, funding, counselling or school services. Multicultural Community Liaison Department: Community Engagement Commitment: Flexible; approximately 3–6 hours monthly Purpose To help GALED engage specific cultural communities respectfully and authentically. Responsibilities Advise on cultural considerations. Introduce GALED to community leaders. Support culturally appropriate outreach. Review promotional materials for clarity and sensitivity. Identify artists, speakers and cultural educators. Assist with participant recruitment. Explain community norms and possible barriers. Encourage participation without tokenizing communities. Support conflict prevention and trust building. Interpretation and Translation Volunteer Department: Accessibility and Community Engagement Commitment: As needed Purpose To reduce language barriers for participants and families. Responsibilities Translate approved outreach materials. Interpret during registration or non-clinical information sessions. Explain program schedules and logistics. Assist families in completing forms. Flag unclear terminology. Maintain confidentiality. Restrictions Volunteers should not interpret: clinical counselling legal advice child-protection interviews complex consent matters emergency medical information unless appropriately qualified and formally assigned. CIP Labour Category Professional translation or interpretation may qualify as skilled labour when provided by a qualified individual and directly connected to the project. C. Youth Mentor Department: At-Risk Youth Initiative Commitment: 2–4 hours weekly for a minimum of four to six months Purpose To provide consistent, positive adult encouragement and structured developmental support. Responsibilities Build a dependable mentoring relationship. Help youth identify strengths and goals. Encourage school engagement. Model respectful communication.
