About
Fresh Routes is a not-for-profit social enterprise that is focused on creating new, innovative ways of providing healthy and affordable food to as many Canadians as possible - especially those who need it most. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food and information to make healthy decisions and live a healthy life.

Working in partnership with communities, our Mobile Grocery Store (MGS) brings healthy, fresh, and affordable food into neighbourhoods facing barriers - allowing choice, maintaining dignity, and building community. We operate over 60 routes per month in 20 communities throughout Calgary and Edmonton.

Our Why
Despite the abundance of food in Canada, not all Canadians have access to healthy and affordable food. Canadians also face a paradoxical situation where healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, are out of economic and geographic reach for many, while those that are harmful to their health are cheap and plentiful. We believe that food is vital to the health of individuals and communities, and that access to good, healthy, and affordable food is a basic human right.

Our Roots
Fresh Routes was founded in fall of 2018 after a successful 4-month pilot organized by the City of Calgary and the Leftovers Foundation. Formerly, the Community Mobile Food Market, Fresh Routes’ Mobile Grocery Store evolved quickly into a year-round initiative now relied on by residents as their primary source for nutritious food.
