President and Board Chair

Foothills Land Trust (FLT) protects ecologically significant lands in Foothills County southwest of Calgary primarily by working with private landowners to establish conservation easements. FLT currently protects nearly 1,650 acres of land across nine conservation easements and owns one 45-acre property outright. FLT is looking for a volunteer President and Board Chair to assume office in June, 2026.  Alternatively, the successful candidate could join FLT’s Board in June, 2026, learn more about us for a year, and then assume the Presidency in mid-2027.  If you have a passion for nature and conservation and enjoy both leading and collaborating, you will find this position very rewarding and a great opportunity for professional development and personal growth.

Responsibilities include:

•	Lead and inspire a team of dedicated volunteers
•	Support and supervise the work of our part-time Executive Director (ED)
•	Chair meetings of the Board of Directors
•	Ensure that the organization remains financially sustainable
•	Together with the ED, meet with landowners to explore conservation opportunities
•	Provide strategic direction to the organization
Certification or Education Required
•	A background in business or in one of the environmental sciences is preferred
