Adult Day Program Volunteer

Placement Title:	PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Department:		Adult Day Support Program (ADSP)

Responsible to:	Activity Leader
			
Placement Area:	Adult Day Support Program Father Lacombe Care Centre
Location:  ADSP area
Commitment:  Once a week
Time:  Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 9:00AM-3:00PM 
 		OR Wednesdays (3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. 
(for any amount of time available whether that's 1 hour or 5 hours)


Purpose of Activity:
To enrich the quality of life of cognitive and physically impaired adults who reside outside of the Father Lacombe Care Centre through physical, spiritual, social, cognitive, and emotional stimulation.

Skills Required/Safety Issues:
1.	Ability to assist with individual or group activities.
2.	Willingness to help others.
3.	Good communication skills.
4.	Good judgment.
5.	Friendly and mature.
6.	Respect for the independence and dignity of clients.
7.	Comfortable with individuals of various cognitive levels.
8.	Volunteers must not lift or transfer clients or provide any personal care assistance.

Duties/Responsibilities:
1.	Wear name tag when in the building or on a FLCC outing.
2.	Record volunteer hours on designated time sheet.
3.	Assist with preparation and cleanup for designated activities.
4.	Porter clients to and from program area as required.
5.	Assist clients to participate in the program by:
a.	Encouraging socialization between clients
b.	Encouraging involvement in activities
c.	Encouraging independent success with activities 
d.	Providing direct assistance to clients only when necessary or as directed by staff.
6.	Other duties as required or assigned by staff.

Orientation/Training:
1.	General Orientation provided by Volunteer Services Coordinator.
