Peer Respite Volunteers
Parents, your experience can make a world of difference! Join us in giving back to the community through our Peer Respite Program. We’re looking for compassionate individuals who understand the challenges of that first year with a newborn—and know how much a helping hand matters. As a volunteer, you’ll spend just three hours a week supporting new parents right in their homes. You choose your own schedule, and we’ll compensate your time and mileage. This is your chance to make a real impact when families need it most. Be the support you once wished for—get involved today! Visit our website at familiesmatter.ca and click the "Get Involved" tab to see our Volunteer options! We’re seeking a dedicated Peer Support Respite Worker to join our Families Matter Peer team. This program has been thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and inclusive space for families. Our mission is to offer individualized in-home respite support to new parents, providing a helping hand to those facing challenges after the birth of their baby(ies). We are looking for individuals who will provide in-home hands-on relief to families who are prenatal and up to one year postpartum. These families have identified that they are struggling with coping day to day and have no or little natural support available to them. Families Matter is looking for Peer Respite workers who have lived experience in the pre/postnatal period. Here's what you can expect: Embrace and uphold the values and policies of Families Matter. Provide in-home respite to families once a week for a three-hour period. Regular visit log entries to ensure consistency in services provided to the families. Identify family needs and potential resource connections based on those needs. Engage in on-going core training and professional development. Flexible hours to accommodate different schedules, based on individual needs.
