3 hours / weekly
1 year
About Enral Education

Enral Education is a Canadian nonprofit dedicated to supporting children’s emotional development, cultural identity, and sense of belonging. Our programs are designed for children ages 3–8 from immigrant and multicultural families, with an initial focus on Muslim immigrant and second-generation families in urban Canada.

Through Montessori-inspired learning, storytelling, creative expression, practical life activities, and social-emotional development, Enral Education helps children build confidence, cultural connection, and a strong sense of identity in a supportive learning environment.

As we grow our weekend, after-school, and summer programs, we are seeking committed volunteer Board Members to help guide the organization’s governance, strategy, and long-term impact.

Position Overview:

The Board Secretary plays an important role in ensuring that Enral Education’s Board of Directors operates in an organized, transparent, and accountable manner. This person will help maintain accurate records, prepare meeting materials, take minutes, and support communication between board members.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in nonprofit governance, education, community development, or supporting immigrant and multicultural families.

The Board Secretary will be responsible for:

Preparing and distributing board meeting agendas in collaboration with the Board Chair
Taking accurate minutes during board meetings
Maintaining board records, including minutes, motions, policies, and key governance documents
Tracking action items and following up with board members when needed
Supporting scheduling and coordination of board meetings
Ensuring board documents are organized and accessible
Helping maintain compliance with basic nonprofit governance requirements
Supporting communication between the board, committees, and leadership team
Assisting with the preparation of annual meeting materials when needed
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong organizational and written communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records
Comfort taking meeting notes and summarizing discussions clearly
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Interest in nonprofit governance, education, children’s programming, or community service
Reliability and willingness to commit to regular board meetings

Previous board or secretary experience is an asset, but not required. Training and support can be provided.
