Tech Support volunteer for hard of hearing seniors

4620 47 a Ave, Red Deer, AB, T4N 3R4 [map]
2-2 hours
ongoing, episodic, flexible
IT'S ALL ABOUT CONNECTION! You can be the bridge that keeps a senior in your community connected. Make a difference in the life of an isolated hard of hearing senior in your community and add positivity to your life.
Do you like working with smart phones and tablets? Do you enjoy socializing with seniors, and teaching new tech skills? Our program matches Deaf or hard of hearing seniors with volunteers for social interaction, friendship and new learning opportunities with technology.
Additional Details & Skills Required
We're looking for volunteers to spend time with Deaf and hard of hearing seniors, providing companionship and helping them feel more confident using technology. Volunteers may assist seniors with their iPhones, tablets, computers, cochlear implant accessories, streaming devices, video calling, voice-to-text apps, and other accessibility tools that help them stay connected with family, friends, and their community. No specialized expertise is required, just patience, a willingness to help.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Fulfill your deep sense of purpose by contributing to a great cause....supporting seniors. Engaging in activities with seniors such as teaching technology, playing games, listening to stories or simply providing company can reduce stress and improve mental well-being for both volunteers and seniors.
