Erdem Taşdelen and Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens Exhibition Volunteer

701 11st SW, Calgary, AB, T2P2C4 [map]
7-7 hours / weekly
From March - August
We are excited to announce that we are seeking volunteers for two upcoming exhibitions:

• Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens: Stacking Crates to Reach a Banana
This exhibition examines the body—human and nonhuman—as a site of measurement, performance, and value. Through sculptures and works that draw on the visual language of diagrams and scientific models, the artists explore how systems translate lived experience and labour into data while questioning the hierarchies and assumptions embedded within them.

• Erdem Taşdelen (curated by Mona Filip)
Bringing together audio installation, film, and live performance, this exhibition borrows from theatre, photography, and collective action. Taşdelen’s work explores power, authorship, migration, and political spectacle through semi-fictional narratives and collaborative processes, with volunteers supporting visitor engagement and periodic performances in the Grotto.

What will your role involve?
As an Exhibition Volunteer, you will play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience. You will assist visitors by engaging them in conversations about the artworks, helping them connect with the exhibition, and answering general questions. Your responsibilities will also include offering friendly guidance—such as clarifying which works are interactive and which are for viewing only—ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, and providing support as needed throughout the space.

What are the requirements?
We ask for volunteers to commit to at least one shift per week from March through August. Shifts are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12-7 PM, and Sundays from 12-5 PM.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please submit your expression of interest here: https://www.contemporarycalgary.com/opportunities by Sunday, March 8th, 2026.

If you have any questions about this volunteer position, please reach out to Beth Kane Manager, Visitor Experience at beth@contemporarycalgary.com and Sabine Levesque at sabine@contemporarycalgary.com

Contemporary Calgary is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful volunteer community and encourages applications from all individuals.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?

Our program is thoughtfully designed to provide meaningful opportunities for engagement, learning, and connection, while directly supporting the arts in Calgary. Volunteers are celebrated year-round through appreciation events, exclusive artist-led exhibition tours, and other special opportunities.
